
Learning Outcomes
Upon completing the course, participants will be able to:
- Explain the importance of consistent night-time care routines and how bedtime practices and procedures support rest, comfort, and overall well-being of care recipients.
- Plan and implement procedural bedtime routines that include appropriate hygiene practices, light nutrition where required, calming activities, and preparation for sleep.
- Identify and manage common factors that disrupt sleep, such as stimulating activities, screen exposure, noise, lighting, or inconsistent routines.
- Prepare and maintain a safe, comfortable, and sleep-supportive environment, including appropriate bedding, room conditions, and safety measures.
- Respond appropriately to common night-time situations, such as bedwetting, illness during the night, restlessness, or difficulty sleeping, while maintaining hygiene, comfort, and dignity.
- Observe and report changes in sleep patterns, night-time behaviour, or comfort levels, and adjust care practices to better support the care recipient.
