Upon completing the course, scholars will be able to:

  1. Apply caregiving principles by integrating the Physical, Occupational, Social, Intellectual, Emotional, and Spiritual components to support client well-being during delegated nursing and medication-related tasks.
  2. Demonstrate safe and ethical nurse delegation caregiving by correctly distinguishing between delegated and non-delegated tasks and complying with legal, and professional requirements.
  3. Assist with and administer medications by applying the Five Rights of Medication, using assistive devices correctly, and following approved procedures for medication storage, handling, and infection control.
  4. Monitor, identify, and respond to medication-related risks by recognising side effects, adverse reactions, and potential interactions, and by preventing, reporting, and managing medication errors according to protocol.
  5. Document and communicate client care accurately and professionally, ensuring regular reporting to nurses, supervisors, and care teams while maintaining confidentiality and ethical communication standards.
  6. Demonstrate independent caregiving judgement and collaboration, making ethical and client-centred decisions, responding appropriately to emergencies, and contributing to coordinated care.
